So it’s no wonder that barndominiums are taking off in her area north of Tampa. Gabriella Barnes, the director of new projects at Gable Steel, a Florida company that makes prefabricated steel buildings, said that she had eight barndominium projects in Citrus County from 2021 to 2022, while this year alone she’s had 10. For 2025, she estimated, another 10 to 12 are already set, potentially with more to come.
